Top 75 things you gotta do before you die

  • Enjoy a slice of the best cake ever baked. Take your time.
  • Feed a wild animal.
  • Join a lousy softball team. Play in a beginner's league. You will meet members of a subculture you never knew existed.
  • Lie on a rock in the middle of a river while the current massages your feet. For a little while, you are part of the beauty of nature.
  • Travel to a foreign country without reservations.
  • Go to a bar you've never been to to see a band you've never heard of.
  • Attend the Folsom Street Fair. You will never feel more normal in your life.
  • Build something out of wood. Something big. With your own hands. This is immensely satisfying. You will be surprised at what you can accomplish.
  • Learn to play a musical instrument. Even if you only get good enough to pick out a tune, it is a great feeling to be able to create music.
  • Watch an inning through the fence at Pac Bell Park. Looking over the right fielders's shoulder, you get an idea of how big a major league field is. You'll feel like a kid.
  • Go to a college football game somewhere where college football is a major part of the local culture, Like Knoxville, Tennessee. You will never see a more sincere expression of civic pride.
  • Fully embrace at least one form of traditional American music. Jazz, Bluegrass, Delta Blues, Cajun, TexMex, Country, etc. Get well enough acquainted that you can identify different artists by sound. P.S. -- "Country" doesn't mean Alan Jackson, Shania Twain, or Toby Keith. "Country" means the Carter Family, Jimmie Rodgers, The Delmore Brothers, Doc Watson, etc. Front porch music played on acoustic instruments.
  • Have your wedding reception at the coolest club in San Francisco
  • Eat an In N Out Burger
  • Read the paper in a rocking chair on your front porch. Listen to the crickets and ciccadas. All will be right with the world, even if it really isn't.

More horsey stuff






I think that is Champ who is NOT kicking me or causing me to wheeze. I believe Dodger is trying to clean the gook (Brian cooties) off of his back after Brian rode him around. And next to us is Dove - she is apparently dating at least one stud. You go girl.

Me on Mrs. Moneypenny. Brian is riding behind us on Dodger trying to figure out who has a bigger ass, me or Money. I win, I win! Above you can see Michelle Ruper and I feeding Spirit my hand. I mean an apple. Notice her grabbing her phone to call the police.

Here is Ruper again from a different vantage point. It is amazing that the horses don't even twitch when the gun goes off. I, on the other hand, usually find myself bleeding to death.

Ruper kills the balloons in a timely manner

This is our friend, Michelle Ruper, who is a real life cow girl. Brian rode this horse even though his name is Dodger. (The horse said the Giants were better). He did try to bite Brian's knee when he thought Brian was a tic. I was riding the beautiful Mrs. Moneypenny until I got busted for not telling her with my feet when it was time to move. She was very sweet and I did not die from horse allergies. They even ate apple out of my hand. Horses slobber a lot while eating apples.
